About Us

Atlanta is a thriving city with a long history of leadership in mental health advocacy, shaped in part by the work of former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalyn Carter. In 2020, Peachtree Road United Methodist Church launched a mental health ministry called The One Lamb Initiative, aimed at strengthening mental wellness awareness and support within a faith community.

Recognizing the alignment of this work with the Carter Center’s longstanding commitment to mental health, the Initiative’s leaders sought an opportunity to engage other faith communities in meaningful dialogue.

This effort led to a multi-faith symposium hosted at The Carter Center in November 2024, bringing together leaders from Muslim, Buddhist, Quaker, Christian, and Jewish traditions. Participants shared perspectives, learned from one another, and explored effective ways to foster mental wellness within their congregations.

Following the symposium, the Peace of Mind Partnership network was formed. This growing coalition of faith leaders and communities is committed to promoting mental wellness, reducing stigma, and exchanging practical ideas that can be applied across diverse congregational settings. This site serves as a hub for that work, offering short monthly ideas that can be easily replicated in any faith setting.

The Peace of Mind Partnership network continues to meet throughout the year to share insights, collaborate on community initiatives, and advance a collective commitment to compassion and mental well-being across faith traditions.
